The evolution of Starclassic from maple, birch, bubinga, birch bubinga continues, and now – after intense analysis, rigorous research, development, and product testing – has arrived at the latest Starclassic modern development, Starclassic Walnut/Birch. The perfect ratio of walnut to birch produces a superior quality of low-to-mid frequency warmth that perfectly complements the clear attack and higher frequency projection of birch. The sound is familiar, yet distinctively different from Starclassic sounds of the past. The Starclassic series continues to be a representation of Tama’s collective drum-making passion, wisdom, and pursuit to offer refined and differentiated sounds. Starclassic Walnut Birch shell defines their commitment to evolve their drum sounds and inspire the contemporary drummer. YOU GET: Drum Sizes (depth x dia): 14×20, 8×12, 14×14 floor tom with legs. All toms feature die-cast hoops. Mounted toms feature Starcast suspension mount. Toms have Quick-Lock brackets for quick set-up and tear down. Bass has current spec non-penetrating bass bracket. Set includes a single-tom holder. Tom shells are 6mm, 4ply European Birch 2 inner ply American Black Walnut. Bass shell is 8mm, 5ply European Birch  2 inner ply American Black Walnut. About the Author

Katia de Peyer’s first book Dancing with MySelf, Sensuous Exercises for Body, Mind and Spirit (Nucleus Publications, 1991; La Source Press, 2026) introduced her method of inner-centering through movement, hailed by Diane von Furstenberg as a whole new attitude about exercising. Her second book Enjoy Your Healing Power (La Source Press, 2025) is an intuitive, helpful guide for developing our healing power.  A ballet dancer born in Paris who lived in Spain to further her studies in flamenco, Katia moved to New York in the late sixties to start a successful career as a personal trainer. There she met the virtuoso clarinettist Gervase de Peyer in 1976.  She and Gervase married in 1980 and lived for two decades in the US and then in the UK until Gervase’s death in 2017.  Katia continues her work as a writer and healer in London and New York.
