Katia de Peyer $ 6.49
Oh-My-Goodness! I have spent a small fortune on knives for the kitchen. I initially bought this for slicing meat and veggies. I was skeptical when I first saw it online. I thought, how can it be as nice as in the slicing meat video, and look like it does in the picture, All for less than 60 dollars?I pondered it for a week, returning to Amazon to look at it now and then. I had ruminated for days, thinking, Hey Mike, why are you considering buying a knife that is so inexpensive it has to be.. uh.. plastic maybe!!??!! I finally gave in, mainly due to Amazons return policy, and purchased it.Welp-Short-Story-long.. When I received this knife I thought, WOW this looks to good to even cut butter with. The edge is super sharp, and the appearance is striking. I said to myself, I will only cut on a wood cutting board, and wash it by hand immediately. Knowing myself though, my thoughts were, I’m to lazy to wash it right after I use it, and most likely I would leave it in a wet sink until it’s dull or worse. To this day I have yet to use this knife on anything except my index finger checking the edge over and over in semi-disbelief. I always put it back in the sheath, then return it to my coffee table in the box, all the while I’ve been irritated with myself because it’s a knife.. not a coffee table book, it should be in the kitchen being used. Well, tonight was the big night, with fillet mignon steaks were on the grill, I swore to myself I would use it tonight, no excuses!!!(Sigh), Nope, it didn’t happen. Thus it has found its place in my home as a work-of-art that lives on the coffee table: :). Don’t hesitate to buy this coffee table knife, It is exactly as stated in the listing and in my opinion, it’s far better. Some day I will use it, just not yet

About the Author

Katia de Peyer’s first book Dancing with MySelf, Sensuous Exercises for Body, Mind and Spirit (Nucleus Publications, 1991; La Source Press, 2026) introduced her method of inner-centering through movement, hailed by Diane von Furstenberg as a whole new attitude about exercising. Her second book Enjoy Your Healing Power (La Source Press, 2025) is an intuitive, helpful guide for developing our healing power.  A ballet dancer born in Paris who lived in Spain to further her studies in flamenco, Katia moved to New York in the late sixties to start a successful career as a personal trainer. There she met the virtuoso clarinettist Gervase de Peyer in 1976.  She and Gervase married in 1980 and lived for two decades in the US and then in the UK until Gervase’s death in 2017.  Katia continues her work as a writer and healer in London and New York.
