Rockville Rws12ca Slim 1200 Watt 12″ Amplified Powered Car Subwoofer Enclosure ,Black

Katia de Peyer $ 51.58
First things first; The amp has a 40 amp fuse, so it matches up with the advertised numbers, and is capable of pushing over 400 watts rms. Whether or not it does, I don’t know. The high level inputs are auto detecting, so if hooked up this method, you will not need a remote wire. The box has shades of blue in the carpet in direct light, can’t be seen in the pictures, but I actually like it more than just black.Subwoofer seems very well constructed and is a beautiful looking sub.Now for the good stuff:For $109 this thing can’t be beat! Ordered it on a whim, looking to add a little extra bass to my jeep commander with the Boston Acoustics system. It has a factory 7 channel amp in the rear with two low pass channels to the front bass drivers, so installing this subwoofer was a breeze. Just had to run some 10 Guage wire to the back from the battery under the trim and used some crimping wire tappers into the front bass driver outs from the amp into the included high level input on the amp.I didn’t have to find a switching power source for the remote because the built in amp detects when there is power to the high level inputs and controls the amp power accordingly. After getting everything hooked up, I fired it up and started throwing a variety of different genres at this little sub, just to find its strong and weak points.Straight out of the box this sub sounded pretty decent, i have always been used to a 1200w rms labyrinth ported 12″ DVC running at 1 ohm on 1000w rms class d monoblock, and I may have had my expectations set a little too high because of that, but for the size of the box and how much I paid, this little sub impressed me.It favors the mid and high frequency bass, and kind of drops out a bit in the lower frequencies, but that is to be expected out of such a small sealed box.So I let this little sub jam out for a few days, playing everything from hard rock, to country, to dubstep, to hip hop. All of which play nicely with this subwoofer, some more then others but all around good, I was pretty satisfied with the performance for the price I paid.It wasn’t until after about 5 days of heavy playing that this subwoofer REALLY came alive and started to impress me.From the factory this sub is very very stiff, almost too stiff, barely moveable by pushing on it with a few fingers. But after 5 days of loud constant music, the spiders have loosened up alot. It feels like a broken in subwoofer now, and boy does it show in the sound. As its been breaking in and loosening up, this subwoofer has easily doubled in volume and output since the first day I installed it.By far the most dramatic improvement I’ve ever heard in a subwoofer from simply breaking in. I don’t know if it is due to just the subwoofer getting looser or some inner workings of the amplifier that made such a huge difference, but whatever it is, it’s great. This is easily the best $109 I’ve ever spent on any car audio related product, it truly sounds awesome for what you pay, in my eyes I don’t think there is a better sub out there that is amplified and in a slim box.The only thing that is still up in the air is the life span of this sub, but I’m sure it will last a very long time.If you’re on the fence about this subwoofer, don’t be, pull the trigger on it, you won’t be disappointed.

About the Author

Katia de Peyer’s first book Dancing with MySelf, Sensuous Exercises for Body, Mind and Spirit (Nucleus Publications, 1991; La Source Press, 2026) introduced her method of inner-centering through movement, hailed by Diane von Furstenberg as a whole new attitude about exercising. Her second book Enjoy Your Healing Power (La Source Press, 2025) is an intuitive, helpful guide for developing our healing power.  A ballet dancer born in Paris who lived in Spain to further her studies in flamenco, Katia moved to New York in the late sixties to start a successful career as a personal trainer. There she met the virtuoso clarinettist Gervase de Peyer in 1976.  She and Gervase married in 1980 and lived for two decades in the US and then in the UK until Gervase’s death in 2017.  Katia continues her work as a writer and healer in London and New York.
