36″ Sumac Root Walking Stick

Katia de Peyer $ 21.02
UPDATE: After 5 years of daily use under the weight of a 250lbs man, the walking stick is still going strong. After the first year or two, I saw some stress cracks at the base, but they’ve maintained their size (as I, unfortunately, have as well). I am thinking of buying another one for the inevitable day this one no longer works…but that day is not today. This stick has traveled the world–from the night markets of Taipei, to the canyon trails of Zion and National Capitol Reef. It has seen a lot of use and a lot of abuse. It still looks great and supports my weight. It has FAR exceeded my expectations. I hope these come back in stock soon!I’m 41 and too young to need a cane (though my knees, hips, and back say otherwise…). However, this “walking stick” looks more fashion accouterments than geriatric device. It looks great–at home on the trail as much as helping me from the car into work. I needed to trim it down to get a proper height (top should just hit your wrist bone), but 10 minutes with a chop saw, dremmel, and wood sealant and it’s juuuuust right. Gets all sorts of compliments too. Each one is unique and all natural. If you are in the market for a walking stick or a “walking stick,” you won’t do any better.

About the Author

Katia de Peyer’s first book Dancing with MySelf, Sensuous Exercises for Body, Mind and Spirit (Nucleus Publications, 1991; La Source Press, 2026) introduced her method of inner-centering through movement, hailed by Diane von Furstenberg as a whole new attitude about exercising. Her second book Enjoy Your Healing Power (La Source Press, 2025) is an intuitive, helpful guide for developing our healing power.  A ballet dancer born in Paris who lived in Spain to further her studies in flamenco, Katia moved to New York in the late sixties to start a successful career as a personal trainer. There she met the virtuoso clarinettist Gervase de Peyer in 1976.  She and Gervase married in 1980 and lived for two decades in the US and then in the UK until Gervase’s death in 2017.  Katia continues her work as a writer and healer in London and New York.
